Yo AP - We (DHC) are hosting at the supreme crown jewel of the Seattle Open Mic community, the Hopvine Pub (Cap Hill on 15th, I think, near Coastal Kitchen, Liberty, etc). We have been going there for years to play a Wednesday slot - the sound has traditionally been less than perfect and the stage is very small, but the number of people who show up to eat and watch music is astounding. The place is stuffed with people every Wednesday. I loved hosting at the Mainstage, and I still like to play there, but the place never seemed as full as it should have been. Hopvine is full every time. So that's our regular gig for the next several weeks, and we will pepper in other nights here and there, and some full shows if we can get them.

Supposedly if you cover a dead person's song, you have to kill yourself immediately after, but I have never seen anyone enforce this. Fuckin' ASCAP, man. Are the Olympics over now? I've been on vacation. J.

What are you guys up to as far as open mic stuff goes? Still playing every week? Is there a regular schedule I should know about?

Also, what are the rules on doing covers of dead people? For example, if I wanted to bust out a Shirley Temple cover, would we have to pay rights?? Please advise. Thanks.

P.S. The USA basketball team is losing to China at the time of this writing - I guess tattoos do NOT provide an unfair advantage.
