Quick note: Perch Cafe is not Asian fusion cuisine. My mistake. I had the best steak salad and potato leek soup I've ever eaten. And Kimi and the crew were amazing hosts. J.

Ahhh, I pine for the old days with Linda Lee at the old Dubliner.......when the crazies would come out of the woodwork and pints were cheap. Ahhh 1995! Speaking of Conor Byrne, the band has it's last show for a while this Saturday Sept. 27th. We go on last at around 10:30. We have our new guitar player up to speed (fired the last guy this Feb.) I miss you guys, but shit has been wierd. You know, kids, job, etc.... Come on down Sat. and have a pint and maybe a joint. We can catch up.

Yo AP - We (DHC) are hosting at the supreme crown jewel of the Seattle Open Mic community, the Hopvine Pub (Cap Hill on 15th, I think, near Coastal Kitchen, Liberty, etc). We have been going there for years to play a Wednesday slot - the sound has traditionally been less than perfect and the stage is very small, but the number of people who show up to eat and watch music is astounding. The place is stuffed with people every Wednesday. I loved hosting at the Mainstage, and I still like to play there, but the place never seemed as full as it should have been. Hopvine is full every time. So that's our regular gig for the next several weeks, and we will pepper in other nights here and there, and some full shows if we can get them.

Supposedly if you cover a dead person's song, you have to kill yourself immediately after, but I have never seen anyone enforce this. Fuckin' ASCAP, man. Are the Olympics over now? I've been on vacation. J.

What are you guys up to as far as open mic stuff goes? Still playing every week? Is there a regular schedule I should know about?

Also, what are the rules on doing covers of dead people? For example, if I wanted to bust out a Shirley Temple cover, would we have to pay rights?? Please advise. Thanks.

P.S. The USA basketball team is losing to China at the time of this writing - I guess tattoos do NOT provide an unfair advantage.

I, too, ride a scooter these days. Luckily for me, Tacoma streets are far less crowded than yours. That being said, I think you should have thrown your (hot) coffee at that cyclist who was messing with everybody.

It's a shame when the initial motivation of being a responsible conservationist ultimately leads one down the path of elitist, pretentious behavior such as that. Sometimes people get to feeling awfully high and mighty based on moral decisions they make. I guess the pride takes over like meth or anything else that takes over.

Bottom line for me: no matter who you are, nor your means of travel, do your part to keep things moving swiftly out on the roadways. Be damn careful, hurry up, and work together with those around you in traffic. We're all in this together.
